Photography, one magazine spread
This is a sample of some of my student work. I had to curate a wardrobe and photograph my own model to include in a magazine spread using expressive type.; while we could pick anything we wanted, I decided to do a story on fashion, one of my special interests! :)
When building my spread, I did a lot of research on what goes into magazine design, terminology, as well as what other large fashion magazine brands were doing. My goal was to take from the sophisticated, clean pages of modern type and make it my own.
Process Work
During the process of this project, I created page layout thumbnails before anything else to really cement the feel I wanted to capture in the photography. I scheduled a shoot with my model (also my Sister (thanks, Izzy!)) and spent a lot of time researching LGBTQ fashion as well as poses. Mood boarding really helped me through this project. We sat down together and combed through contact sheets until we decided on the final photo. Here are a few of my sketches.
