Oakridge Cooperative school
Oakridge Cooperative School is a small private establishment based out of Burlington Vermont. They take pride in their focus on a ‘progressive education’ revolving around the fact that every student is unique in the way that they learn, function, and thrive in school environments. After all, as Einstein once said, "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid"
Project Type: Branding
Objective: To create a clean and sophisticated brand for a cooperative school catering to grades K-12.
Deliverables:
1 Set of responsive logos
1 Stationery Set including a business card, an envelope, and a letterhead
1 Brandbook
1 Viewbook
The brand identity
For this brand, I wanted to create something modern and sophisticated, but also exciting and fun. I chose to make a responsive logo pack so that there would be something to fit any use that the school may need. This allowed me to create two different marks that could be incorporated as separate design elements regarding curvatures, watermarks, and more. The circular submark logo is meant to be able to stand alone just as a mighty oak does, or to be featured with the full school name as it would exist in a forest of trees. I chose a primarily cool color scheme because I want this identity to radiate calmness and mindfulness to further foster an environment where children can really learn.
The VIEWBOOK
In my research that I completed for this project, I saw that a lot of schools have stunning viewbooks that feature stories of what student life is like on campus. I chose clean stock photography and bold typography for this portion of the project. The vision is for students to look through the book and see themselves within Oakridge’s educational model.
The brandBook
With every good brand, comes a plethora of rules and stipulations regarding how imagery, logos, and typography are used. The platform for this portion would be through the web in a footer subnavigation that I prototyped in Adobe XD.
